Well, Guess I'm in the same boat with Dood.

Checkers -> Chess -> Risk / Monopoly -> Axis & Allies (still play *grin*)

Commodore 64 -> Atari 2600 -> Atari 5200 (find one of THEM!) -> Super NES -> PS2 (Loved the Jak series)

486 -> 700Mhz P1 -> 1.06Ghz P3 -> 3.2Ghz P3

Asteroids / Space Invaders / Missle Command -> Galaga / Defender / Stargate -> R-Type / Gauntlet / FPS -> WarCraft II, D2, Civ II, StarCraft, WarCraft III, Civ III,.....and now GW

"What a loooooong, strange trip it's been..."

I got my first computer in 1987 or 1988. It was Amstrad CPC 6128 and the operating system was CP/M (its older than DOS). I remember playing games like World Cup Carnival: Mexico 86, Basket Master, Outrun, Victory Road, Bruce Lee, Shadow of the Beast 3, Batman, Garfield 2 (Big, Fat, Hairy Deal), Rainbow Islands, Gauntlet 2 (almost like Diablo), Knightlore, R-Type, California Games 2, Arkanoid 2, Bionic Commando, Mask 2...

Then I got 486SX... and I played these: Master of Orion, Master of Magic, UFO: The Enemy Unknown, Eye of the Beholder 1,2 3. Lands of Lore, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, One Must Fall 2097, Betrayal at Krondor, Prince of Persia 1, 2, Sam and Max Hit The Road, Little Big Adventure, Slick n' Slide, Doom 2, Wolfenstein 3D and many many others...

good old times... I feel so ancient now

The first computer game I ever played was Adventure on my Universities VAX. I graduated very quickly to Rogue on the VAX. Neither game was supposed to be allowed on the system, but the Network Admin liked to play them and didn't see any reason why his friends couldn't too. I still play a version of Rogue that was developed for the PC in the 80's. It's a great way to remind myself of how far the graphics have come and that all the hype on "Gameplay" is subjective. I still enjoy those old games even if the graphics are EXTREMELY rudimentary

Naww...you are experienced! I use to have a 386DX40 which at that time was faster then any 486SX. The King computer for years until Pentiums came out were the 486DX66. We use to think of how fast those boxes were in those days. Add 8megs of Ram to the 486DX66 and you were smokin'! Ram cost $100/meg in those days. I skipped the 486DX66 and went with a Clone 486DX120. It was as fast as a Pentium 100/120 back then and way cheaper. Then I got a P1 166 which I still have collecting dust.

Yes they were good times.....

EDIT: If you want to see old big floppy disks...then watch the movie WAR GAMES. The Kid is using 8" floppy disks.
